Xbox One controller not connecting to console

Hi all,
I have an Xbox one controller which does not work. The controller doesn't connect to the Xbox one console.
The controller randomly disconnects, or won't connect at all. Sometimes when it disconnects it won't reconnect again.
What can I do to resolve this issue?
